Hallowe'en, Remtide and Friends

Been a busy and fun fall.  We had our very good friend Conor visiting us from Toronto with huge success locally for his Kill Shakespeare enterprise, of course the usual Hallowe'en frenzy, and then an extended weekend in Nova Scotia's South Shore at the family homestead Remtide.

On a more personal note, as I look at these pics and see how sweet and lovely are these kids, family, friends and landscape, I'm reminded how every day is indeed a gift.

In the midst of complete chaos in the house recently, Chris extended his arms and said, "We call it surrender."  I've joked about it since but there is a deeper truth there that I admire.  Yes, surrender ourselves to the chaos to remember the goodness it contains.

Both blue rugs already sold

See below on the rag rugs I'm selling.  Just a note that the two blue ones are already sold.  Sorry!

Rag rugs for sale

Hey friends and folks,
This is round 2 of selling Finnish rag rugs; the last bunch went quick!  See pics below on what's up for sale this round.

Basically, my mom weaves Finnish rag rugs from clean rags and fabric scraps. Those of you who have visited our home will have noticed our house is full of them - all made by my mom.

She recently gave me a bunch that she'd be happy to have sold. The widths vary but are around 65-74cm wide and below are the descriptions. She sells them at $35/metre.

For anyone interested and for anyone who may buy one, I'm happy to give some simple care instructions. They are washable, which definitely adds to them.

Just a little note that she weaves them on a loom and the weave is quite tight. As such, they're likely to last much longer than those you get in stores. It's not unusual for a Finnish ragrug to last two or three generations.

Anyone interested can email or message me. I'll do this on a first come, first pay basis.

1. Shades of Blue: 2.7 metres long ($94); made mostly from old blue jeans.
2. Pink Foxglove: 2 metres long ($70); pink with slate blue stripes.
3. Suomi Summer: 2.25 metres long ($77); dark blue, light blue, white repeating pattern.
4. Maroon Night: 1.65 metres long ($57); dark maroon with regular light and red stripe.
